Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system has overtaken Mac OS X 10.9! This means that Microsoft has the most popular desktop OS out there, and Apple only has the 5th most popular desktop OS.
Microsoft has managed to get 2.64% (recorded from Net Applications) of computer users to their new OS, most from other Microsoft OS’, and some even from Mac. This percentage has increased quite a bit from in October when the number was only 1.72%. This increase has pushed Windows 8.1 past Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks and just before Windows Vista, which has a 3.57% share.
These percentages are following a nice pattern from since Microsoft first released Windows 8.1 in October this year. Things should improve even more soon because the update is free to all users of Windows 8 and has some good features, some of which are new to Windows
